Roseville, a Mennonite colony, is tucked away in the jungle and mountains of southern Belize. Founded in 2012, it is small with only about forty families currently living there. They are Noah Hoover Mennonite’s, who use horse and buggy, and are very conservative. It is highly unusual for them to accept a Bible from outside the community, much less a commentary Bible.
There are two ways to enter Roseville.
1: Cross the river on a pulley system
that has a cart connected.
2: Drive across the river in a car or buggy.
If the river is too high, the only way into Roseville is to cross the river on the pulley system.
The village of Roseville is a tight community, with everyone seeking to aid their neighbor. Horse and buggy are normal and house built by hand are likewise.
The MacArthur Study Bible and the Global Study Bible are both of which Mr. Cornelius, a resident Mennonite in Roseville, accepted from us. He has told us his family has been reading them. He enjoyed the MacArthur Study Bible because the text is larger. He reads mostly at night by candlelight, after a hard day’s work on his farm.
